Ruby slippers in front of a cross

Ah, those lovely ruby red slippers, how I love them! What woman doesn’t love a beautiful pair of shoes?!  Pretty, sparkling and delicious, they call to us.  To be chosen, to be worn, to be transported.  These iconic shoes are symbols of adventure, as well as hopes and desires to be fulfilled.

We all have hopes, dreams and desires.  What’s pulling on your heart?  What are you hoping for?  What do you dream of?  Something simple? Or, something heart heavy?

In The Wizard of Oz, Dorothy’s greatest desire is to return home.  We see the ruby red slippers can transport her by simply clicking her heels three times.  But can they really??  Our practical mind intrudes negating the magical ability of a pair of shoes to whisk us away.

No such thing exists!!

But…maybe…

just maybe…

it does exist?

Maybe “it” simply doesn’t look like a pair of ruby red slippers?

Maybe instead of clicking our heels, we turn to the One who can answer our hope and fulfill our desires? Maybe the “magic” being chased after is the supernatural presence of the Holy Spirit?  God loves us so much and wants us to have His joy, peace and be our hope! Seek Him and align yourself with Him and watch your life transform!

Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.  Psalm 37:4

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.  Romans 15:13

Perhaps the whisking away by clicking a pair of beautiful shoes is a desire for refuge and solace? Find your protection and comfort in Him!

You have been a refuge for the poor, a refuge for the needy in their distress, a shelter from the storm and a shade from the heat.  Isaiah 25:4

Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”  Psalm 91:1-2

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.  Psalm 46:1

The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.  Psalm 18:2

Don’t let the enemy steal your hope and joy, nor dash your dreams. You have a loving Heavenly Father who desires to be your refuge and source of comfort. Allow His love to whisk you away; seek Him to find hope and fulfill dreams.

What choice will you make today?
What direction will you take?
